New chameleons coming soon. We are waiting on release papers from USF&W.
PARD-M3ID: PARD-M3
F. pardalis - male
Date Received: October 29, 2007
Age When Received: 19 months

CB from Kammerflage Kreations, born April 2006 and described as "43.75% Ambanja x 6.25% Nosy Be x 50% Tamatave" and "sired by Bungo."  Previous owner said he tried to eat rocks and branches which is believed to be the cause of massive infection.  His right eye is permanently sunken and mostly closed.  His appetite is good but he is less active than normal for a chameleon his age.  We will not ship this animal. He must be adopted locally to a patient new keeper who will swab his mouth occasionally. We have had him for 2-1/2 years and he is very much loved.  We hope to find someone who will love him as much as we do.

QUAD-M2ID:  QUAD-RM2 - ADOPTION PENDING

Ch. (T) quadricornis - Male

Date Received:  May 8, 2009

Age When Received:  Adult

It has been a long slow process but he's doing much better now.  He finally shed, started putting on some weight and eating more.  He was treated for parasites and we continue to monitor him.

CALY-F2ID: CALY-F2
C. calyptratus- female
Date Received: February 16, 2009
Age When Received: appx. 6 months

This little female was raised without UV lighting which caused her to develop a severe case of metabolic bone disease.  She currently eats soft bodied feeders such as silkworms and hornworms.  She will eat crickets too.  She gets around on her own fairly well.  She needs a new home with someone who doesn't mind continuing her calcium therapy and who can provide her with access to natural sunlight.  She doesn't mind being in a small sized cage but we have her cage set on a rack that sits about 8' high.  A local adoption would be preferred over shipping.  But getting her in a good home is our priority.

Rehabs:

The following chameleons are not yet available for adoption but we hope to offer them once they recover.  If you'd like to help, there are a number of ways to do that. We are always thankful for any monetary donation that can be put towards veterinary costs, but we also can use many supplies that aid us in rehabilitating the sick and injured.  We are here to take in all chameleons in need and work very hard to rehabilitate them.  But some do not make it.  We feel that the following chameleons have a chance.

If you are looking for advice on rehabilitating, it is always best to consult with your reptile veterinarian and please don't hesitate.  We have references to some wonderful veterinarians on our Resources page.

We use Southland Reptile enclosures that were custom made for our Rehab Room.

Things to keep in mind when completing the adoption application...

We really like it when you've already done your research before applying.  Even better if you have experience with the species you're applying for!

Knowing that you have a good reptile vet is important to us.  We provide veterinary care when necessary and would like this to continue with you.

You can't go wrong with a fully screened cage made for a chameleon.

You should not use compact UVB light fixtures.  If you don’t know the reasons why, please visit this link.

We don't adopt to children but for the right situation we will adopt to their parents.

In a hurry?  Then you're in the wrong place.  The well-being of the adoption animals comes first.  Some have been through a lot already.  Don't rush it.

Feel free to name drop!  If someone referred you to us, let us know.

You are probably thinking that this is a lot of work for a chameleon.  Here's why...

Often these chameleons come to us after battling husbandry issues or maybe their previous keepers had to move away.  In some cases they are injured and have been nursed back to health.  It is our goal to give these chameleons an easy going future whether it is here at ChamEO or on to a new home with you.

Thanks for your interest in our chameleons.

CharlieID: CALY-M5
Ch. chamaeleo calyptratus -
male
Date Received: July 2008
Age When Received: 2 Years

Adopted:  February 2009

Charlie's owner had to move to Japan for a lengthy work assignment.  He was in excellent health and very easy to handle.  Not the typical male Veiled.  His casque was damaged by a thermal burn but completely healed.  His new keepers are crazy about him.

"Thanks for checking up on Charlie!!!  I look forward to keeping in touch with you and I cannot say enough how happy Charlie has made all of us!!!!"   ~Lindsey in PA

TatonkaID: CALY-M4
Ch. chamaeleo calyptratus - male
Date Received: August 2008
Age When Received: Adult
Adopted:  February 2009

Animal Control picked up this stray Veiled sometime in October 2008.  He is in great health, eats everything provided and is very aggressive when first approached.
His new owner named him Tatonka, meaning "Buffalo."  Such a fitting name for this big boy.

"I just got Tatonka to eat from my hand, it was a superworm and he is the first chameleon to eat from my hand since Cairo. He is awesome . . .

"Thanks again for Tatonka he is going to live out his life like a king." ~ Shahe in NV

"She is such a good eater!! She comes right up as soon as I put something in for her. Thanks again for trusting her to me. I just adore her!" ~ Debbie in TX

PARD-M5ID: PARD-RM1
F. pardalis -
Date Received: March 13, 2009
Age When Received: appx. 9 months

Died: July 13, 2009

This female panther suffers from a severe case of MBD and can barely get around. We are treating her with Neocalglucon and only providing soft feeders. She is eating on her own and has starting climbing a little bit but needs to be kept in a modified cage to avoid injuries from falling.  We would be willing to adopt her to a home locally and to someone who could provide her with natural sunlight regularly.

Update:  He is eating crickets on his own now.  We will try superworms and cockroaches soon.  We have tried using a cage, but when he climbs up the sides, there is more of a chance that he will fall.  So we are going to keep him in the tub.

Final Update:  Sadly, this panther took her last breath on July 13th.

UNKNOWN IDID:  ROPE-M1

C. roperi - Male

Date Received:  October 16, 2009

He is improving fast.  He came in with two eye infections.  One eye cleared up right away and the other is showing improvement.  He can now eat on his own.  He is being treated for parasites, the eye infections.
