Aluminum Screen Cages

These are our favorite chameleon cages.  Very lightweight and easy to assemble.  All you need is a philips screw driver.

Sizes available:

  • Extra-small - 20 x 15 x 16
  • Small - 29 x 15 x 16
  • Medium - 36 x 18 x 18
  • Large - 36 x 24 x 24
  • Extra-large - 48 x 24 x 24

Suggestion for assembly: Before we had our greenhouse, it was difficult to keep ants away from the cages.  They would come around when it got hot and if we didn't catch them in time, they would get into the cages and plants.  So before assembling the cages, we always seal up the joints with silicon to make it impossible for the ants to hide within the frame.  It also keeps small feeder crickets from disappearing into the frame as well.

Net Cages

Net cages have various uses.  They are excellent for housing baby chameleons. Add a silk ivy vine so the babies have something to climb on. Feeders (fruit flies and pinhead crickets) can't get out and harmful insects such as ants can't get in.  The UVB transfer is excellent.  Easy to clean.  Folds flat for easy storage.

FLIGHTLESS FRUIT FLY CULTURES - ORGANIC

Our cultures are made with all organic ingredients and each 24 ounce container comes with a generous amount of media to keep your fruit flies well-fed and reproducing for weeks!  Keep your cultures at 75 to 78 degrees for best results and feed off adults to prevent overcrowding inside the container.  Note:  We use calcium propionate, a mold inhibitor.

Ingredients:

  • purified water
  • grape concentrate
  • bananas
  • apple cider vinegar
  • malt extract
  • infant cereal and oats
  • potato flakes
  • brewer's yeast
  • cinnamon
  • active dry yeast

We offer both the smaller fruit flies (D. melanogaster) and the larger fruit flies (D. hydei).

We have tried a number of culture recipes from the ones formulated by the pros to those thrown together by hobbyists. Secret recipes and special ingredients don't fly when you are feeding human babies, right?  Well, you deserve to know what's going into your flies which will go into your chameleons.  To use organic ingredients means the product will cost more to make. We don't care about that.  We still match or beat most prices out there.  We may modify the recipe to make improvements to the nutritional benefits but we won't make modifications to the recipe to cut our costs.
